Samsung Galaxy SIII Priced at Rs.43,180/- for 16GB in India

Samsung has finally launched their next flagship handset, the Galaxy S III, in India. The successor to the very popular Galaxy S II, the S III ups the ante, not only for Samsung, but for Android smartphones as well. The design is heavily inspired by pebbles, which is reflected in the curved design of the phone. It measures just 8.6mm in thickness and weighs 133g, making it thin and light.

The highlighted specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S III:
  • Android 4.0 with TouchWiz
  • 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos 4212 processor
  • 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720
  • 8MP camera with AF, LED flash, BSI sensor and 1080p HD video recording
  • 1.9MP front camera with a resolution of 720p for video chat
  • 16/32/64GB Internal memory, expandable upto 64GB
  • 1GB RAM
  • NFC, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GLONASS, micro-USB 2.0, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 2100 mAh battery

One of the main features of the S III is the voice recognition system called S Voice. It also features Smart Stay, a technique that uses the front facing camera to track your eye movement, so it keeps the screen on as long as you're looking at it. Pretty cool. Social Tag uses face recognition that scans the faces in your gallery and maps them to your friends on Facebook or other social media sites. S Beam lets you bond and share data instantly between two S III devices using a combination of NFC and Wi-Fi Direct. AllShare Play uses DLNA to share your photos and videos on compatible TVs. Coming to the camera, it’s an 8MP shooter in the rear with a BSI sensor and a 1.9MP front facing camera. The camera also features new modes, like Burst Mode and Best Buddy mode. The S III will have TouchWiz running on top of ICS, so extra multimedia features, like DivX playback is possible out-of-the-box.

Now, that it’s officially available at Rs.43,180; How many of you’ll are gearing up to buy this beast?

Samsung Galaxy SIII - Rs.35,999/-

The company will hold a launch event sometime in the 1st week of June and immediately have the device available in the market. The pricing information also seems to be hinting that the device will be launched at Rs. 35999/- as the MRP on the boxed unit of the Galaxy SIII.
The Samsung Galaxy SIII, an upgrade to the superbly popular Samsung Galaxy SII, was launched last week at an even held in London.
The company has taken a different approach to the design of its handset and instead of the boxy design have now gone with a more fluid and organic design with rounded edges. The S3 comes with a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED Display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 px making it 306 pixels per inch. An 8MP camera with HD video and a 1.9MP front camera for HD Video calling.
As far as the chipset is concerned, the Exynos 4212 Quad core with 1.4GHz clock speed goes under the hood along side a Mali-400MP GPU. Three storage options 16/32/64 GB storage and 1 GB RAM give the buyer possibly the best set.
The Galaxy SIII will only be available in the 16GB version in India.

Samsung Galaxy S II ICS Update - March 15 in Isreal

Rumors of a March launch for the Samsung Galaxy SII's Android 4.0 upgrade have been circulating for a while, but now it seems we may have the first official word on when the update will land. Samsung Mobile Israel has today made a statement on its official Facebook page, saying it expects ICS for the Galaxy S II to roll out on unlocked and carrier-branded handsets in Israel from Mar. 15.
Roughly translated, the post reads --
We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it'll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too :)
While this is great news for Galaxy S II owners in Israel (as well as those with the unlocked international version upon which it's based), other territories may have a little longer to wait. We'd expect this to be particularly true for the U.S., where hardware differs from carrier to carrier.
Once released, the official firmware will obviously be tweaked and used world wide. Lets hope for the best. There are a lot of other devices which have been waiting to get the polished Android 4.0 for a Stable release with handsome looks..

Android 4.0.3 ICS leak for Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

After the last ICS leak yesterday came out for the Samsung I9220 Galaxy Note,
we now come with the first ICS leak for the Galaxy Note N7000.
The Galaxy Note N7000 is more popular than the I9220.
This is of course because the I9220 is actually only for the Chinese market.
Luckily we got our hands on the first ICS ROM for the Galaxy Note N7000.
This ROM is based on Android 4.0.3 firmware number as N7000XXLP1
We expect this ROM will still have many bugs.
Especially since this is the first leak.
Because this is a CUSTOM rom your CUSTOM binary will walk.
Below are all our screenshots plus a little video of the rom …
If you want to talk about this firmware you can do so through our forums.
Downloading is also ony via our forum topic.
On our FW page you only can find OFFICIAL firmwares by Samsung.
This rom is a early CUSTOM rom by Samsung based on Android 4.0.3.
Samsung did the same by the Galaxy S II. (I9100XXLP1 – I9100XXLP2 both CUSTOM by Samsung.)

Samsung’s official ICS ROM for the Galaxy Note leaked, not all models supported

We’ve known for some time that Samsung intended to upgrade its gigantic flagship to Ice Cream Sandwich, and it looks like work is well under way to do so. A new alpha ICS ROM for the Galaxy Note has been posted to XDA Developers, and it looks like it’s an official Samsung release (complete with TouchWiz). The ROM was spotted on a Chinese forum. Don’t boot up your recoveries just yet, Note users: this software only works with the I9220 model number, and it’s localized for the Chinese market. The standard international GSM version, and presumably AT&T’s version set to go on sale on Sunday, are not supported. Flashing to these devices may brick them.

The ICS build itself is in the very early stages. Early users are reporting decent but not fantastic performance, and certainly not up to par with the Galaxy Note’s Gingerbread software. The file is huge, about three to four times the size of a standard ROM, presumably to include Samsung’s TouchWiz additions and custom apps that take advantage of the Galaxy Note’s S-Pen stylus. Testers are reporting issues with various kernels, and flashing this ROM without the correct kernel files seems to be a recipe for everyone’s favorite modder-themed breakfast cereal: Boot Loops.Samsung previously stated that the Galaxy Note would see an update to Ice Cream Sandwich in the first quarter. That gives them about six weeks to get it out on time, though that timeframe is almost certainly only intended for the international version (i7000). Who knows when Samsung and AT&T might get together and update the US Note, which will launch with Gingerbread. In the meantime, modders can turn to the aftermarket, where modified versions of CyanogenMod 9 are already available.
